Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi is a Malayalam language film released in India on 19 December 1998, directed by Fazil. This film became the most successful Malayalam movie of 1998 and it grossed about ₹10.75 million (US$150,000) worldwide, and was declared "Hit of the year". The script and screenplay were by Uroop Padmadham with dialogue by A. K. Lohithadas and written by Sunu Kurian. It starred Jayaram as the protagonist along with Meena as the female lead. The film tells the story of a tribal village whose living style gets disturbed with the arrival of a new man named Balachandran (Jayaram) in their midst. In the end, the protagonist becomes a revolutionary leader in order to reclaim their land from Sivasankaran Nair (Narendra Prasad), who wants to convert it into a rubber estate.This movie won six awards, including Best Film, at the Kerala State Film Awards for 1998. The film was critically acclaimed upon release and is regarded as one of the best films ever made in Malayalam cinema. It was also screened at International Film Festival of India 1999. The film was remade into Tamil as "Vennila Vaanillai".The film had a very good start and collected about 0.3 million INR (US$25,000) in its first week. The second week collections were about 0.4 million INR (US$35,000) and the third week it reached ₹1.5 million INR (US$21,000). The movie was declared "Hit of the year" by the box office pundits and made a profit of ₹10.75 million for producers Lohithadas Productions. The success of the movie brought Jayaram to prominence. This movie was remade into Tamil as "Vennila Vaanillai". It was remade into Kannada as "Aadha Devala", in Telugu as "Moondru Per Moondru Parakirama Muthyala Mancha" and in Bengali as "Chudamani".

The film was remade into Tamil as "Vennila Vaanillai" starring Suriya, Simran, Suresh Gopi and Suhasini Maniratnam. However, it failed to garner much success due to its poor marketing.

The film was remade into Kannada as "Aadha Devala", in Telugu as "Moondru Per Moondru Parakirama Muthyala Mancha" and in Bengali as "Chudamani".
